The year 2014 was a historic year for the state of Maryland. House Bill 881 was passed back then which laid the foundation of the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC). Over the years, the state updated its cannabis laws, making them more beneficial for both adult and minor qualifying patients. What exactly is a caregiver?
A caregiver is an individual who aids the designated patients with marijuana possession and purchase. Each patient is allowed to have up to two caregivers while one caregiver can attend up to five patients, as per the state law. However, it is important to note that the caregivers must register themselves before registering the patient.
Medical Marijuana Laws for minors in Maryland
The medical marijuana laws are similar for both qualifying adult and minor patients within the state. Some of the key points of these laws include,
- Starting from July 1, 2023, recreational cannabis is now legal in Maryland.
- Driving under the influence of cannabis or consuming cannabis while driving is illegal.
