Alaska is one of the US states where both recreational and medical cannabis is legal. You need to be an adult (21 or older) and you can possess up to one ounce of marijuana and cultivate up to six cannabis plants.

Is Recreational Marijuana Legal in Alaska?

Alaska legalized recreational marijuana possession all the way back in 2014. The state authorized the recreational sale of marijuana in 2016 allowing people to possess up to one ounce of marijuana and grow six cannabis plants. But out of these six plants, only three must be in the flowering stage.

Along with recreational marijuana legalization, the state of Alaska also approved its medical marijuana program which allows patients diagnosed with a qualifying medical condition to possess similar amounts of cannabis as that of a recreational user.
