State Senator Gail Schwartz of Colorado supported Senate Bill 14-184, which allowed farmers to sign up for 10-acre research and development plots to evaluate the viability of various hemp varieties.
In Colorado, marijuana has been legal since 2000 for medical reasons and since late 2012 for recreational ones. Colorado enacted Amendment 20 on November 7, 2000, changing the state constitution to allow eligible patients with official medical approval to use marijuana there.
